Mr James Smith is a substantive Consultant Plastic Surgeon at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust specialising in General Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Melanoma and Non-melanoma Skin Cancer. 

After graduating with honours at the University Of Leeds in 2007, Mr Smith completed his core surgical training in Bristol. During this time he completed a Post graduate Certificate in Medical Education at the University of Dundee. In 2016 Mr Smith was awarded Membership of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers of Edinburgh after demonstrating his ability to train and educate in a number of fields. 


As part of his training Mr Smith completed fellowships with Mr Ian Smith in Lower Limb and Sarcoma and with Mr Howard Peach in Skin Oncology. Mr Smith has worked in a number of the UK’s best Plastic Surgery Departments with some of the UK’s finest Plastic Surgeons including Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Frenchay Hospital (Bristol) and the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital. 

Mr Smith has over 27 publications and 35 presentations in a broad spectrum of Plastic Surgery. Evidence of research can be found at ResearchGate. He is a member of Melanoma Focus and is on the GMC Specialist Register.
