Meet Mr James Smith
My name is James Smith and, based in Leeds and York, I am a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon.
With a passion for enhancing lives through surgical expertise, I am a substantive Consultant at Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leeds. I'm also proud to be a core member of the regional Melanoma service.
Specialising in General Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Melanoma and Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer, I also provide a broad spectrum of plastic surgery at Coppergate Clinic, private surgery in York.

TrainingAfter graduating with honours at the University Of Leeds in 2007, I completed my core surgical training in Bristol. During this time I completed a Post graduate Certificate in Medical Education at the University of Dundee. In 2016 I was awarded Membership of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers of Edinburgh after demonstrating the ability to train and educate in a number of fields.

FellowshipsAs part of my training I completed fellowships with Mr Ian Smith in Lower Limb and Sarcoma and with Mr Howard Peach in Skin Oncology. I have worked in a number of the UK’s best Plastic Surgery Departments with some of the UK’s finest Plastic Surgeons including Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Frenchay Hospital (Bristol) and the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital.

Publications and PresentationsI have over 27 publications and 35 presentations in a broad spectrum of Plastic Surgery. Evidence of research can be found at ResearchGate. I am also a member of Melanoma Focus and am on the GMC Specialist Register.

MedicolegalI am available for the preparation of expert medical reports. I have completed the Bond Solon Course 'Excellence in Report Writing.'
